Adult students with families face special challenges in returning to school with so many obligations. Our education tips advice for students with families may help ease the transition.
- Ask for your family's support. You will quickly experience burn-out if you try to handle school, work, and family without any help from your loved ones. Before you pursue your online education, explain how important your goals are to your family and stress that you will need their help and support in order to succeed. Make sure you are prepared for online learning.

- Delegate responsibilities. Every member of your family will need to step up if you're going to clear enough time in your schedule to commit to your studies. You might ask your kids or spouse to help with some of your chores, such as cooking and cleaning.

- Involve your kids when you study. If your kids never seem to want to leave you alone to study, try involving them in the process instead. For example, one good piece of education tips advice is to make flash cards of your course material and have your kids quiz you with them.

- Remind yourself and your family of your motivations for pursuing higher education. Are you pursuing more education so you can have a bigger house? Have more flexible hours so you can spend more time at home? Whatever your motivations, consistently remind yourself and your family of them. You may even cut out pictures representing the ultimate goals of your education and put them on a poster board to display in your home.

- Let your kids remind you of the importance of breaks. Staying on the computer for hours on end can actually be counterproductive; you'll get tired, distracted, and less creative if you overdo it. So, when your kids burst in on you asking you to play with them or read to them, don't turn them down automatically. If you've been working for a while, a short break would do you good. You will come back refreshed and with renewed focus.

- Use rewards. When your kids and spouse go out of their way to let you study or help you make time for school, make sure you reward them in some way. Try to do something fun as a family as a way to express your gratitude. Use family outings as a reward for yourself as well since you're working just as hard.
